Every great museum has a portrait gallery, and ours is no exception. Each exhibit sat for our in-house artist, by which we mean they sat on the canvas, then near the canvas, then left. These are the results. Click any portrait for a closer look. Please do not lick the frames.

The Founder: a ginger cat in a crown, on a pedestal, behind velvet ropes. Medium: smugness on canvas. Bastet's Representative on Earth, before the pyramids. She has asked us to mention she is still accepting offerings. Félicette, first cat in space, 1963, in a helmet she did not ask for. Unsinkable Sam, 1941, completely unbothered by his third shipwreck. Able Seacat Simon, Dickin Medal recipient, with an extremely nervous rat-adjacent colleague. Mrs. Chippy, Antarctica, 1915, with a penguin who has questions. The Chief Mouser on his doorstep. The mouse has been here longer than three cabinets. Mayor Stubbs of Talkeetna, giving his annual address. It was a single meow. It was well received. Tama, Stationmaster and later goddess, on platform duty. Towser, champion mouser, accepting her 28,899th award. Creme Puff at her birthday party, approximately year 38. A grumpy cat at a party she did not consent to. A six-toed muse at Hemingway's typewriter, editing ruthlessly. Schrödinger's cat, both in this portrait and not in this portrait. The board of directors, in session.
